Why PSG–Lyon Was Rescheduled: What Is Confirmed
The French league moved the Ligue 1 fixture from Sunday to Monday after an order from the Paris Police Prefecture prohibited the original date and time.

The confirmed change
The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) announced on October 23 that Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 match against Olympique Lyonnais would move from Sunday, October 25 at 20:45 to Monday, October 26 at 20:30. The league said the Paris Police Prefecture had issued an order prohibiting the match from being held at the original date and time. It said the new schedule was agreed with Ligue 1+.
PSG’s English-language notice confirms the Monday date and time. The official competition organizer and one of the clubs therefore agree on the practical point readers need: the fixture was rescheduled, and the new scheduled kickoff is Monday at 20:30 CET.
What the security context establishes
The LFP’s short statement names the police order but does not set out its detailed reasoning. Reuters, in a report carried by Channel NewsAsia, placed the move in the context of planned protests in Paris. French reporting by 20 Minutes also described the decision as requested by the prefecture. Those are attributed explanations from reporting; they should not be expanded into a claim about a particular threat, incident or motive that the official notice itself does not specify.
That distinction matters in a schedule story. A date change is an official decision. The security rationale is partly described through the prefecture’s order and reporting around it. Details beyond those public accounts remain outside what this article can confirm.
What it does not mean
The rescheduling is not a cancellation of the fixture. The published decision shifts it by one day and specifies a new time. Nor does a security-related scheduling order, on its own, establish that violence occurred or that a particular group caused the change.
Readers should also distinguish the final schedule from earlier listings. The original Sunday kickoff appeared on the calendar before the LFP’s announcement; it is no longer the current official schedule. The relevant check for any further change is the competition’s own updated notice.
A narrow, useful account
The safest summary is straightforward: the LFP moved PSG–Lyon to Monday, October 26 at 20:30 after the Paris Police Prefecture prohibited the original Sunday slot. The league’s notice confirms the decision and replacement time. News reports describe the wider protest context, but the public record cited here does not warrant adding unverified claims about the order’s underlying intelligence or consequences.
